Campaign 2008
Goldilocks
and the Three Candidates

By Hank Edson
It was primary day in the forest and so Goldilocks told her mother she was going to go vote. Goldilocks was a democrat and she was terrified at the terrible condition of her country. Her vote today mattered a great deal to both her and her country.
She left her home and went down the path to the local library where the voting booths were all set up. The kind young man at the welcome counter had her sign her name in the register and gave her a voting card to take into the poll booth.
When Goldilocks had pulled the curtain closed behind her and sat down on the stool in the voting booth, she was surprised at what she saw. Instead of a computer screen with a touch pad, there was a counter with a slot for her voting card in the side and three porcelain mugs resting on top. Each mug had the face of a different candidate on it.
Goldilocks impulsively picked up the Barack Obama mug. She had heard so much “buzz” about him. Below his picture were the words, “It’s not about me; it’s about you.” Goldilocks wondered why, then, it wasn’t her face on the mug. Then she looked at what was in the mug, and much to her disappointment, the mug was empty. At the bottom of the empty mug, she read the words, “The people are thirsty for change.” Goldilocks did not know what to make of this mug. She was thirsty, but the mug was empty. She set it down. “There’s nothing there,” she said to herself.
Then she picked up the mug with Hillary Clinton’s face on it...READ MORE

I really enjoy reading your blog, it always has great insight. But I am very frustrated with the media’s lack of questions to the presidential candidates about global warming.
The Daily Green just put an article out talking about how the presidential candidates are not being asked where they stand on the issue of the climate change - this is surprising to me considering its such a MAJOR concern to people. I just saw a poll on www.EarthLab.com that says people care a lot what their next leader thinks about global warming (after you take it they show you the results). Does anyone know of another poll or other results about this subject?
If not, go to http://www.earthlab.com/life.aspx and take their poll to see which way the results go. This is a pretty legit website; they are endorsed by Al Gore and the alliance for climate protection and they have a carbon footprint calculator. No matter which political party you vote for this is an important issue for our environment, our economy and for homeland security.
Hey Alex, thanks for raising the issue! I don't know if you saw my response in the feed to "It's Our Democracy, Stupid," so I will repost it here just in case. Thanks for the recommendation to visit EarthLab.com, a fantastic resource! If I see any polls on voter opinions regarding the priority of addressing global warming, I will pass it on at this site. I am not surprised, however, that the issue is being missed. My perception is that the mainstream media is bent on crafting a dumbed down narrative that will dictate the outcome of the election and increase the profits it can make from the process in doing so. The press is simply not committed to doing its job, just to doing business.
Here's what I said earlier: The Sierra Club reports that in 2007, reporters asked presidential candidates 2275 questions, only 3 of which were related to global warming! If you want to sign their petition demanding better coverage of the issue from journalists, go to:

Also, for information on each candidate's positions toward addressing global warming see my article, Vote Green To Stop the Abuse Of All who Depen Upon a Clean and Natural Planetary Environment!, which can be found at:

In this article I provide a comparative analysis of the candidates different climate change proposals. Thanks for raising this most important concern!
For Alex and others who are disturbed by the lack of attention to the global warming crisis in this election, here is an email I got through my facebook page, with steps to help change the situation.
Hey folks,
I wanted to send a quick update on the petition – and 3 things you can do to make global warming part of this hot electoral year.
The folks at League of Conservation Voters are still tallying up the numbers – but it looks like nearly 200,000 people have signed the petition!
Folks will be hand-delivering the petition next week - can you take a few minutes to help spread the word?
1.) If you haven’t yet - SIGN THE PETITION:

2.) Click the "Share+" button on the right to post the group to your profile!
3.) Invite all of your Facebook friends to join this group! http://www.facebook.com/editgroup.php?members&gid=8378424906
Thanks so much for adding your voice.
